BRACKNELL, UNITED KINGDOM 16th October 2008 Kognitio , a leading global provider of business intelligence BI and data warehousing solutions, today announced it has begun producing the Kognitio Report, a series of podcasts focused on BI topics in today s marketplace. The six-minute podcasts will be produced on an ongoing basis, and are available at no charge via the iTunes store...

The first Kognitio Report, available for download now, features industry analyst Claudia Imhoff, discussing how business intelligence is beginning to make inroads among frontline workers, enabling them to make the better decisions required in today s hyper-competitive marketplace.

Imhoff says the ability to analyse real-time data gives companies the ability to have a real conversation with a customer, and understand who they are, what their lifetime value is to the organisation, what their most recent purchase was and what they should suggest in terms of another purchase. She credits the enhanced ability for more companies to engage in BI to what she terms a perfect storm of faster data extraction, transformation and loading ETL processing, better storage technologies, and faster analysis tools. More importantly, she says there has been a distinct change in thinking among business intelligence professionals, who now realise that traditional BI processes should be incorporated into traditional business practices.

Speaking for Kognitio, the manufacturer of the WX2 purpose-built analytical database, John K. Thompson says these changes in business intelligence have increasingly allowed front-line workers to become more proactive in their dealing with customers. Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Kognitio, Inc., says that data analysed at the transaction level can be used for forward-looking purposes, giving companies a complete shift in how business analytics and data warehousing is perceived from a value-add in the business, rather than a cost centre.

Additional Kognitio Reports will be available from the iTunes store as well as Kognitio s website at no charge, featuring industry analysts such as David Loshin, Lyndsay Wise, Richard Hackathorn and more. The six-minute reports are specifically designed to provide listeners with insights without requiring them to devote a significant amount of time.
